The ETS Personal Potential Index is an easy-to-use web-based system that allows advisors to evaluate your personal attributes. This gives graduate and business schools additional insight into your potential for success — showing admissions committees that you’re more than just test scores and grades.

What does the ETS PPI Measure?

The ETS PPI collects feedback about you from evaluators you select on 6 personal qualities that graduate deans and faculty have identified as essential for success in graduate study:

  • Knowledge and Creativity
  • Communication Skills
  • Teamwork
  • Resilience
  • Planning and Organization
  • Ethics and Integrity

How are these evaluations made?

You select the evaluators you want to provide feedback about you. These evaluators are usually people who know you well, such as faculty members, advisors or supervisors. Evaluators use the web-based system to rate you by answering 24 carefully developed questions and providing an overall evaluation. They can also provide comments. The process takes less than 15 minutes and is completed online. You then select up to 5 evaluations that you want to include in the ETS PPI Evaluation Report, which is sent to the institutions you choose.

Once created, your ETS PPI Evaluation Report provides graduate and business schools a more complete picture of your potential for success.
