While getting her master’s at the University of Sydney Business School, Chen Jinghua fell in love with the climate and culture. So, Chen decided to stay “Down Under” and she’s very happy she did!
The English skills Chen learned while studying for the TOEFL® test prepared her for living the international lifestyle she now enjoys. Chen said, “Taking the TOEFL® test made me comfortable with English langage academic environments and daily English communication. My test preparation fully prepared me for daily life abroad.”
Taking the TOEFL® test to get her master’s was actually Chen’s second experience with the test. She had taken the TOEFL® test the first time at age 18 after finishing the Gaokao in China. It helped Chen gain admission to a 1-year exchange program in logistics and supply chain management at the University of Manneim in Germany. Chen now works in the logistics field at LafargeHolcim in Australia as a buyer.
To prepare for test day, Chen participated in a TOEFL® training course, practiced all 4 skills (reading, listening, speaking, and writing) and read many English language books and articles. “Learning English through daily accumulation is important. With proper test preparation methods and sufficient practice, you will get a very good score,” she added.
Optimism and persistence made Chen’s living-abroad dream come true! She has been able to quickly and smoothly adapt to her new home in Australia, thanks to her ever-improving English language skills.
