3 Reasons to Register Early for the TOEFL® Test

Nov 24, 2015

It’s time to take the next step in your study abroad journey and register for the TOEFL® test! Registering early will give you a number of advantages as test day, and your adventures beyond, get closer. Here are three of the top reasons to register early for the test:

You have a better chance of getting the location and date you want.
Seats can fill up quickly. We recommend that you register 3 to 4 months in advance of the test to have the best chance of reserving a seat for the date and location you prefer. Your test date should be 2 to 3 months before your earliest admissions application or other deadline. Find TOEFL® testing locations and dates.

You have more time to plan in case you want or need to retake the test.
Depending on your score, and the admissions requirements for your study abroad program, you might decide to retake the TOEFL® test. Registering early will give you more time to plan and prepare in case you do choose to take the test again.

Feel less stress as school deadlines approach.
As you navigate admissions and financial aid deadlines, and all that goes into preparing for your study abroad adventure, it’s a good feeling to know that your registration is complete and your test date is reserved!

When it comes to registration, be sure to remember that:

  • Registration closes 7 days before your test date
  • Late registration closes 4 days before your test date and includes a late fee
  • Walk-in registration at the test center is not allowed

All the more reason to register now and get an early start on your journey!
